Listening to local experiences of stroke care in Kirklees and Calderdale

We have explored people’s experiences of stroke care and support, helping local voices contribute to conversations about improving services.

The work heard from people with lived experience of stroke, giving them an opportunity to share what worked well, the challenges they faced and what could make their experience better.

Understanding people’s experiences of stroke

Experiencing a stroke can have a significant impact on people’s lives, as well as those of their families and carers.

By listening directly to local people, we gathered valuable insight into people’s experiences of stroke services, care, recovery, and ongoing support in Kirklees and Calderdale.

Their experiences were brought together in a report to help services and decision-makers understand what matters to people and identify opportunities for improvement.

Turning people’s experience into insights.

This work is an example of what now sits at the heart of Veera.

We listen to people’s experiences, identify common themes, and turn what communities tell us into meaningful insight that can support better services.

The Healthwatch work continues as part of Veera, alongside our wider work listening to communities across West Yorkshire.
